My parents were in full hippy mode, complete with giant beards and bellbottoms. My mom was keeping us afloat with a batik clothing business while my British dad was designing and building green houses on the Navajo reservation. Soon after I was born my mom decided it was time to get serious and it was time for Grad school. She went on to have 40 year career in Academia.
Following my Mother as she taught Advertising and Branding, and my dad as he did contracts for UNICEF, I went to grade school in Kuala Lumpur, junior high in Bandung, and high school in Singapore.
I studied product design at Central St. Martin's College of Art and Design in London.
After college I worked in London as an intern at Interbrand and Landor then got my first full time job as a designer at IDEO London. After a few years, I moved to Singapore and worked with Fitch then got a job in Shanghai working in Product Design for Xindao.
After working as a designer and living abroad for 10 years I became interested in Interaction Design and realized that the best way to become engaged in this field was to go back to school for an MFA. I spent three years at University of Illinois taking courses in interaction design, engineering, and human-computer interaction. While studying I met the love of my life, Kalina.
After gaining my MFA I decided to work in the field in order to validate myself in the digital product design space. I worked remotely from Champaign for 8 years for companies like PriceWaterhouseCooper, and Brunswick-Navico.
Following my wife as she peruses her PhD in Computer Science at The University of Utah, we sold our big midwestern house, packed our big midwestern truck with our big midwestern dog (moose) and moved to Salt Lake City. We plan to do a lot of skiing, mountain biking and exploring.
